Peshawar:Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, announced on Tuesday that the provincial government has approved the launch of a comprehensive life insurance scheme for all citizens of the province. This initiative comes as yet another major relief measure following the success of the Sehat Card programme.
The newly approved scheme will cost the provincial exchequer Rs 4.5 billion annually, and is designed to provide immediate financial support to families after the death of the head of the household. Under the scheme, Rs 1 million will be given to the family of a deceased breadwinner under the age of 60, while families of those above 60 years of age will receive Rs 500,000.
Barrister Dr. Saif emphasized that the primary objective of this scheme is to offer prompt economic relief to bereaved families, who often face severe financial hardship after the loss of their sole earner. “In such moments, families suffer not only the emotional pain of losing a loved one but also the sudden disappearance of their source of income,” he said.
He further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is taking practical steps for public welfare, in line with the vision of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder, Imran Khan. “We are fully committed to translating this vision into reality by focusing on citizen-centric projects,” Dr. Saif added.
