Barrister Dr. Saif hails tournament as breakthrough for talent discovery and social harmony, praises madrasa-university collaboration
PESHAWAR: The grand final of the Inter-Madrasa and University Cricket League for Peace was held in Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar, in which Peshawar University clinched the title. Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif attended the event as a chief guest stating that such tournaments are instrumental in nurturing skilled athletes capable of representing the nation on national and international stages.
The “Inter-Madrasa and University Cricket League for Peace” united young players from diverse educational backgrounds on a shared platform. For the past two months, around 130 players from from five prominent madrasas and five leading universities across the province participated in the cricket tournament. The event was organised Organized through a dynamic collaboration between the Inter-Religious Council for Reconciliation and Advocacy (IRCRA) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Barrister Dr Saif lauded the participants for showcasing outstanding skill and sportsmanship, making the tournament a remarkable success. He highlighted the immense potential within madrasas, stating, “The talent in our madrasas is truly inspiring. Events like these not only showcase their abilities but also pave the way for identifying future sporting stars for Pakistan.” He also lauded IRCRA’s efforts and commended the collective efforts of religious leaders, and universities in making the tournament a resounding success.
Barrister Dr Saif urged the students from both universities and madrasas to carry the same passion, teamwork, and dedication they displayed on the field into their practical lives adding that by contributing positively to society, they can become exemplary ambassadors of progress and harmony.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Muhammad Israr Madani, President of IRCRA, emphasized the transformative power of sports as a medium for peacebuilding, especially among youth from different socio-religious backgrounds. He thanked all partner institutions and reiterated IRCRA’s commitment to sustaining such cross-sectoral collaborations in the future.
