35,000 vaccination teams deployed across all 36 districts as province intensifies fight against poliovirus
PESHAWAR: Barrister Dr. Saif, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, has announced that a province-wide anti-polio campaign is currently underway in all 36 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. More than 7.3 million children under the age of five are being administered polio vaccine drops during this campaign.Dr. Saif stated that the campaign will continue until May 31 in 34 districts, while in Khyber and Peshawar districts, the drive will extend until June 2. A total of 35,000 teams comprising 70,000 workers have been deployed to ensure the success of this vital health initiative.“The goal of this campaign is to protect children under five from the poliovirus,” Dr. Saif said. He appealed to parents to fully cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that their children receive the essential drops of the polio vaccine. “Polio prevention is possible through just polio drops, and eradicating polio is a national duty that requires collective effort,” he emphasized.
Dr. Saif reassured the public that the polio vaccine is safe, effective, and crucial for the healthy future of children. He urged people not to be misled by rumors, stressing that the vaccine protects children from lifelong disability.“We will not rest until the virus is completely eradicated,” Dr. Saif added. “All available resources will be utilized to eliminate this deadly disease. I call upon the public to support the frontline health workers engaged in this noble mission.
