KMU Emerges as a Hub of Medical Research and Higher Education: Barrister Dr. Saif
Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, hosted a prestigious ceremony to mark the successful graduation of 60 PhD scholars in Basic Medical Sciences. The chief guest on the occasion was the Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif.
In his address, Barrister Dr. Saif said that KMU has now become a center of excellence in medical research and higher education in the country. He announced that the provincial government’s top priorities are health and education, assuring that all the requirements of KMU will be fulfilled on a priority basis. He remarked.
“The greatest virtue of mankind is service to humanity and health. Achieving a PhD is not the end, but the beginning of a new journey, which must be dedicated to serving others in practical life.”
On this occasion, Barrister Dr. Saif inaugurated the Dr. Jafar Khan Biochemistry Laboratory under the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences and the Wellbeing Center established by the Department of Family Medicine. He termed the establishment of the Wellbeing Center as a need of the hour and stated that the provincial government would recommend introducing this model in other government institutions as well.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration, Barrister Dr. Saif said that KMU is playing a vital role in advancing modern research and providing quality healthcare facilities. Later, he visited the KMU General Hospital and expressed the hope that the hospital would not only provide quality medical facilities to patients but also serve as a hub for advanced research on various diseases.
The ceremony was also attended by KMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia ul Haq, faculty members, researchers, administrative staff, and other dignitaries. The speakers paid rich tribute to the academic and research contributions of the late Dr. Jafar Khan.
