Peshawar: Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has urged the federal government to reconsider its policy on the war against terrorism. He stated that due to the federal government’s flawed policies, funerals are being carried out almost daily in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Innocent civilians, including children and women, are being targeted in this war against terrorism.
He said the federal government’s apathy towards such a critical issue is regrettable and condemnable. Dialogue with Afghanistan is indispensable for eliminating terrorism. However, the federal government is neither holding talks with Afghanistan nor allowing the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to do so.
Barrister Dr. Saif emphasized that Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is taking serious measures to eradicate terrorism and restore law and order. Tribal jirgas have already been held at the Chief Minister’s House in this regard. The federal government should cooperate with Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur in efforts to ensure peace and stability.
He further criticized the federal government for politicizing such a crucial matter, saying that the federal government is undermining the Chief Minister’s sincere efforts by turning them into political disputes. He added that the federal government has also remained silent on the Terms of Reference (TORs) regarding sending a delegation to Afghanistan.
Barrister Dr. Saif stressed that the federal government’s seriousness is essential to eliminate terrorism; otherwise, the loss of innocent lives will continue unabated.
