Peshawar: Adviser to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has strongly criticized the Punjab and federal governments, stating that the recent floods have exposed the alarming reality of illegal housing societies operating across Punjab.
In his statement, Barrister Dr. Saif said that the property mafia has illegally developed housing projects along riverbanks and natural watercourses, endangering the lives and properties of citizens. He noted that these unlawful ventures have flourished under the protection and negligence of both the Punjab and federal governments.
“These housing societies are the product of government incompetence and collusion with the mafia. Supported by the so-called rulers of Form 47, they exploit the hard-earned money of the people while leaving them defenseless against floods,” Dr. Saif remarked.
He demanded immediate and strict action against the owners of all illegal housing societies, including their arrest and the freezing of their assets so that citizens’ losses can be compensated. “Those responsible must face exemplary punishment,” he insisted.
Turning his criticism towards Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Dr. Saif said: “Instead of making TikTok videos on boats, Maryam Nawaz should take decisive action against these illegal housing societies. The hardships of the people cannot be addressed through social media optics, but only through serious and effective governance.”
The Adviser stressed that both the Punjab and federal governments must adopt urgent and practical measures to prevent such disasters in the future. He further suggested that Maryam Nawaz should learn from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s proactive and strategic approach in managing the flood crisis in KP.
