KP Advisor pledges Rs. 10 million grant for Mardan Bar, vows judicial complex completion while empowering local journalists

MARDAN: Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, has said that the legal profession is not merely a career but a noble public service and an effective tool for ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law in society. He said that young lawyers, if they adopt service, integrity, and professional ethics as their guiding principles, will achieve great success and earn the respect of society.

He was addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the District Bar Association Mardan as the chief guest. The event was attended by a large number of lawyers, representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, civil society tgmembers, and other dignitaries.

On this occasion, Barrister Dr. Saif stated that the demand of Rs 10 Million as grant for the District bar will soon be taken up with the Chief Minister for approval. Barrister Dr. Saif congratulated the newly elected cabinet and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to resolving the longstanding issues faced by lawyers across the province.

He said that progress on key demands such as the construction of the Mardan Judicial Complex, provision of sheds for junior lawyers, solarization of Bar Rooms, and financial grants will be made soon. Barrister Dr. Saif emphasized that creating a conducive and enabling environment for the legal community remains a top priority of the provincial government.

Responding to the demands presented in the vote of thanks, he urged the Bar Councils to develop comprehensive skill development programs for young lawyers to help mitigate their financial challenges and enable them to fulfill their professional responsibilities effectively.

The Advisor praised the District Bar Association Mardan for its continuous struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution, strengthening of democracy, and ensuring timely and affordable justice for the citizens.

Meanwhile, Barrister Dr. Saif also visited TeElected tam, where he administered the oath to the newly elected cabinet of the Rustam Press Club.

Addressing local journalists, Barrister Dr. Saif said that free, responsible, and professional journalism is the cornerstone of any democratic society. He highlighted that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is fully committed to strengthening this foundation and is taking all necessary steps in this regard.

He lauded the role of local journalists in highlighting community issues, raising the voice of the people at government forums, and contributing to the achievement of development goals. Appreciating the dedication and professionalism of Rustam Press Club journalists, he said their hard work is commendable.

Barrister Saif reiterated that media freedom and editorial independence are essential for democratic stability, and the government remains fully committed to safeguarding these principles. He urged local journalists to continue their role in promoting good governance and social reforms through positive criticism and constructive reporting.

At the conclusion of the event, President Rustam Press Club, Mr. Atiq-ur-Rehman, thanked Barrister Saif for his official visit and acknowledged the provincial government’s ongoing efforts for journalists’ welfare and resolution of their issues. He expressed hope that the government would continue its practical steps for the betterment of the journalistic community in the future.

Mr. Rehman further assured that Rustam Press Club would persist in its mission of responsible journalism, highlighting public issues and contributing positively towards the area’s development.
