Barrister Dr. Saif exposes Maryam’s “disaster exploitation playbook” as KP rescues 75 flood victims; demands Punjab focus on governance
PESHAWAR:Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has urged the Punjab government to refrain from politicizing natural disasters. He called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to focus on governance in her own province rather than using such tragedies for political purposes.
Commenting on the recent incident in Swat, Barrister Dr. Saif expressed grief over the loss of lives and stated that the provincial government promptly mobilized its resources. He said 75 stranded individuals were safely evacuated through timely action.
He noted that prior alerts had been issued and rescue teams were already deployed in vulnerable areas. A helicopter was allocated for relief operations, and in earlier efforts in Parachinar, aerial services were used to assist hundreds of people and deliver medical supplies to affected regions.
He added that bad weather and limited time had hindered helicopter operations in Swat. Following the incident, the Chief Minister suspended the responsible officials and formed a committee to investigate, which began its work today. Financial assistance for affected families has also been announced.
Barrister Dr. Saif further alleged that the Punjab cabinet includes corrupt elements and claimed that Maryam Nawaz receives regular briefings on where political advantage can be gained. He emphasized that natural disasters can occur anywhere and should not be used for political gain.
