KP Information Advisor hails local reporters as “custodians of democracy” while administering oath to newly elected press club cabinet

PESHAWAR: Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif emphasized the critical role of local journalists, particularly working in remote areas, in promoting transparency, accountability, and public participation in governance. He made these remarks while administering the oath to the newly elected cabinet members of the Upper Chitral District Press Club in Peshawar.

Barrister Dr. Saif stated, “Journalists in remote and mountainous districts like Upper Chitral are the true custodians of grassroots democracy. Their work bridges the gap between the people and the state. The government is fully committed to empowering local press clubs through infrastructure support and financial sustainability.”

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Secretary Information Muhammad Khalid, Additional Secretary Information Hayat Shah, Senior officers and the Newly Elected Cabinet of Upper Chitral District Press Club. The newly elected office bearers of the Press Club pledged to uphold professional ethics, defend press freedom, and represent the concerns of the region with integrity and courage.

President of the Upper Chitral District Press Club, Muhammad Ali Mujahid, thanked the Advisor and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to making it a vibrant platform for responsible journalism that truly represents the voice of the people of Upper Chitral.

On this occasion, members of the Upper Chitral District Press Club presented an honorary shield to Barrister Dr. Saif in recognition of his unwavering support for media development in the province and his efforts to strengthen communication between the government and the public.

The newly sworn-in cabinet vowed to uphold journalistic ethics, promote press freedom, and represent the voice of Upper Chitral with integrity and responsibility.
