Peshawar: Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Barrister Dr. Saif, visited the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar to express solidarity and heartfelt condolences over the recent devastating earthquake in Afghanistan.
During his visit, Barrister Dr. Saif met with the Afghan Consul General and conveyed deep sorrow and sympathy on behalf of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the loss of precious lives and extensive property damage. He also recorded his condolence message in the visitors’ book at the consulate.
A special prayer was offered for the elevation of ranks of the martyrs and for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Afghan Consul General expressed gratitude to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Dr. Saif for their support.
The Consul General also highlighted the challenges faced by the injured victims at the Torkham border, mentioning that over a hundred critically wounded patients are seeking medical treatment in Peshawar. He appealed for facilitation in providing them access to hospitals in the city.
In response, Barrister Dr. Saif assured full support and pledged that all possible assistance would be extended to bring the injured patients to medical facilities in Peshawar. He further stated that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, is deeply concerned about the situation and is in constant contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure necessary coordination.
Efforts are underway to transport the patients from the border to Peshawar, and if needed, specialized medical teams equipped with essential equipment may also be sent to Jalalabad to provide treatment on the ground, Dr. Saif added.
He reiterated that the people and government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stand shoulder to shoulder with their Afghan brothers in this hour of need and will not leave them alone in these trying times.
“Afghanistan is going through a period of great hardship, and it is our moral duty not to abandon our Afghan brethren during such a crisis,” said Dr. Saif. He emphasized the historic, cultural, and brotherly ties between the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Afghanistan, adding that it is their shared responsibility to support each other in times of adversity.
